10 years of marriage to an incredible man, my soul mate. We've always described each other in that way; it was true back then, and it's still true today. We literally grew up together, from two young and immature college students into (hopefully ;)) adults, and expanded our family by two beautiful children. The only constant has been our love for each other. Life is good, and we are truly lucky. For anyone interested (and who hasn't read it), Eric wrote out the full story of how we met on Facebook. He stayed up until 1:45 AM on our anniversary eve working on it! If you know my husband, you know that writing is not really something that he likes to do at all, which makes his story all the more touching to me.
We had envisioned ourselves in Paris, or maybe even on a tropical island for our tenth anniversary, but life had other plans for us. A two year old and a newborn would not be the most appropriate travel companions for that type of trip, to say the least! Instead, Eric's parents came to our home to babysit the kids while we went out to a fantastic dinner at Sullivan's downtown, for which we were so grateful! We had a great night out, talking and laughing, like we always have. Our night out was even capped off by a celebrity sighting, Hurricanes captain Rod Brind'Amour. It's not Paris, but hey, there's always the 15th, or 20th... :) Joking aside, as long as I'm with Eric, it doesn't matter what we do. I'm happy.
Ten Years, Ten Reasons I Love Him!
1) We've never had a fight. Ever. Disagreements, yes, arguing and fighting, no. I cherish a peaceful and comfortable home environment, and he's made it possible, every single day.
2) He's incredibly thoughtful, and is always looking for ways to make me happy. I do the same for him, and he makes it fun and a pleasure to do that.
3) He's a fantastic father- a natural. He has literally done everything that I do from day one (aside from nursing :)), gladly, and with no complaints. When I'd attempt to send him back to bed on a work night at 3 AM, I'd hear "He's my son, too." He's tireless with them, and will read a book for the 3rd time in a row and change the umpteenth diaper, all after a long day at work. Every time!
4) The way he takes my hand, gives me kisses or a little squeeze, and tells me he loves me at every opportunity.
5) He's an excellent provider for his family. He works very hard at things he would rather not do at times, all for us.
6) He's very intelligent, always without being pretentious, boring, or way too serious. We can talk about absolutely anything, or we can just enjoy the silence together. No matter what, it's comfortable.
7) He's hilarious. I laugh to the point of tears because of him on pretty much a daily basis.
8) He inspires me to be a better person. He's given me lots of reasons and opportunities to realize that it's ok to trust, love, and open up.
9) He's given me the best gift of all- two beautiful kids. We each have a mini-me, which is pretty darn cool!
10) He's hot- always has been, always will be! ;)
