Easter Weekend Recap

Home sweet home after a fantastic whirlwind Easter weekend!

Friday- Eric took a vacation day from work. Originally- I thought it would be a great day for Eric to see Action Jackson at his My Little Gym class- but we discovered that there would be no class that day! It all worked out, because Eric's parents (aka Nana and Granddad) came up for the morning to spend some time with Jackson, as well as give him an Easter basket. Of course, Jackson was thrilled about not only seeing them, but over the basket's contents. Especially big hits with J were a Shake N' Go Clucking Chicken on Wheels and a book called Wheels on the Go. The visit was capped off by a very windy trip to the neighborhood playground.

Saturday- After breakfast, we headed out to Wilmington to visit Grandma. Aunt Dana and Uncle Chris came by for a visit, which was a great surprise for all of us. Then, we headed down the coast to the NC Aquarium at Ft. Fisher. Jackson thoroughly enjoyed looking at everything, and pointing and "commenting" on all of it. Favorites were the gigantic green moray eel (yuck!), deep sea fish, and the alligators. I definitely saw several reminders of why I'm not a huge fan of swimming in the ocean. :)

Sunday- I started my day (again) at 4 AM. This not sleeping thing is for the birds! Luckily, Eric let me sleep most of the morning away while he took on Jackson duty. When Grandma arrived home from church, we gave Jackson his Easter baskets (he especially loved his GeoTrax set and "baby sister" doll from us, and was over the moon with his golf set and bag from Grandma. He immediately began trying to hit the balls with the clubs, and wanted to carry or push the golf bag around for the rest of the day!). We enjoyed a delicious Easter lunch, then had an egg hunt for Jackson. He loved it! He found all of the eggs, and put them in his basket by himself. Of course, he had a couple of missteps at the beginning- like trying to hold 5 eggs at the same time, or taking eggs *out* of the basket. Nonetheless, he got it, and loved every minute. He kept on looking for eggs around the house after we were done. :) He capped off the afternoon by pulling a snake eating a whole egg routine (just like this) with a rather large piece of my mom's delicious Italian Cream Cake (my great grandmother's recipe- which I need to get!). Can't say I blame him.

Bonus news! A few speech breakthroughs this weekend- Jackson said "nite nite", "anana", and "all done"- all of these were repeated after us, but huge news nonetheless!

Also- we're 99.99999% set on a first name for Baby Girl (some of you know it already- so yup, it's still the one I told you :)). Eric chose a middle name that's the front runner for now-we're maybe 85-90% set on that. We still have 4 total combos of the chosen first name with middle names that we're contemplating. I hope you're not confused. :) We're much further ahead of the game with her than with Jackson; we only 100% decided on his middle while I was in labor.

Busy week ahead, and lots of unpacking to do!
