Jackson's sick! He's had a minor, clear runny nose for the past week or so, but was completely his normal self, other than that. Then Tuesday evening, after we got back home from a neighbor's house (watching the beginning of a stupendously exciting Carolina Hurricanes playoff game), we noticed he was a bit warm as we prepared him for bed. Wednesday morning, he woke up with a fever of about 101. He wasn't himself, but then was fine after a dose of Motrin, playing and hysterically laughing while pointing out body parts on himself, Mom, and Pooh Bear. :) Lots of TV watching and cuddling ensued over the course of the day, but he seemed better. Jackson is incredibly tough, and not a fussy kid at all, so it can be really hard to tell when something's bothering him. However, by the middle of Wednesday night, things had gotten bad. He woke up moaning and fussing (which is so heartbreaking to hear, not to mention completely frightening, because he's never done that before). His temperature was about 103.7, possibly higher- that's just when he squirmed away. This is his first real fever, and he started off with a bang. We got it lowered just a bit, and brought him into bed with us. He ended up completely horizontal between us, snoring away in our bed, so I moved him back at about 3 AM. I took him into the pediatrician this morning, as his fever was still high (in the 103 range). He didn't enjoy the exam at all, but nothing could be found to explain his fever. He was flu negative, so there's really no treatment that can be given besides keeping him comfortable, hydrated, and alternating Tylenol and Motrin to keep the fever down.
I really hope he's better soon. Not only for his sake, but for the entire family. We're all running on little sleep, and have (for now, anyway) a very busy long weekend planned, complete with a 32 week OB appt, cleaning the house for all the visitors, a neighborhood get-together tomorrow evening, a desperately needed hair appointment, shopping, and a Derby Party Saturday, Mom and Dana coming into town to stay Saturday, my baby shower Sunday, with Eric's parents coming to visit then, and Jackson's speech evaluation Monday! Some of that's going to have to fall by the wayside, obviously. Jackson's going to want to see everyone, and I really hope he's back to himself by then. I absolutely refuse to get sick myself! I can't!
Also, a twins update: Peter and Clau's twins were born via emergency C-section on April 23th, after Clau unfortunately developed pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome. They weighed in at 4 lbs, 8 oz, and 5 lbs, 2 oz. Their names are Santiago John and Daniel Ali. We're very excited for them! They will have to stay in the NICU for a bit, but Aunt Ronnie and Clau's parents have all flown in to help with anything that needs to be done for Clau, Peter, and the babies. We've seen some pictures, and they're both adorable!
Anddddd, a nursery update. Some of Ella's crib bedding arrived as a early shower gift yesterday evening, and BOY, does it look awesome in person! It's all not currently in stores, or back ordered, so I had only seen it in pictures. I am so excited about the way things are coming together.
