Eric had been insisting that we needed to stay home and have a relaxing Mother's Day- including sleeping in on my part! After how I've been feeling emotionally and physically (oh yeah- that end of pregnancy discomfort is kicking in now) lately, and how busy we've been, I didn't do much arguing!
I woke up about 9 AM (glorious!) to breakfast in bed, a dozen pink roses, and a beautiful, touching card from Eric, and a hilarious one from Jackson (Dad was the scribe ;)). I also received a natural birthing book (Eric said later, "Wow- there's lots of graphic pictures in this one- maybe you didn't want to think about this on Mother's Day!") , and a replacement for my jar of Clinique Moisture Surge that had earlier met its demise courtesy of Jackson (another costly reminder to never underestimate his reach). Eric is also having a really cool mother's necklace with the kids' names on it made, but it hadn't arrived yet. He truly spoils me, and this year was no exception. I definitely have the best husband and son in the world, but I didn't need Mother's Day to come around to tell me that!
After Jackson's nap (during naptime, Eric cleaned up and we made a cake together from scratch for a playdate I had Monday), we headed out to the country for some delicious homemade ice cream at Maple View Farm. There were a ton of people there! We all enjoyed a cone, including Jackson. Afterward, we headed into Chapel Hill to Southern Community Park, a place I'd been a few times with Jackson before for playdates. He had a great time running around and playing on the equipment. There were a ton of people there, too- children of all ages, parents, grandparents, and a couple of graduation parties and cookouts. Seems like everyone had the same ideas we did! We then took a trip to Trader Joe's, where Jackson realllllly enjoyed a sample slice of watermelon. Before we knew it, it was dinnertime, and we decided to head home. After getting Jackson off to sleep, Eric made a run to Salsa Fresh for take out. Perfect! I had little to no desire to go to a restaurant on one of the busiest restaurant days of the year with a toddler, anyway. No offense, J-Rock.
It was a wonderful, relaxing day spent with my two guys!
