We went in today for an ultrasound to get an estimate on Ella's size. I had been found to be measuring a couple of weeks ahead, so they scheduled me for this last week. She was estimated to be 7 lbs, 14 oz. I'm not even 37 weeks yet! Babies gain on average about 1/2 pound a week at this stage, so we would be looking at about a 9 and a half pound baby by my due date! Wowza! It was also confirmed that she's still a girl. :) Just as with Jackson, newborn sized diapers and clothing may continue to not be needed in our household. I guess I shouldn't be very surprised. I was 10 lbs, 10 oz at birth, and Eric wasn't exactly a small baby either.
It was quite cool how they got the estimate of her weight. The ultrasound tech takes measurements of her head, abdomen, femur, and amniotic fluid levels. Then, they have software that computes an estimated weight, based on all of these measurements.
I go in for my (almost) 37 week appt at 4 today. Hopefully, they'll tell me that additional progress has been made. I'd love to go just a little early. Update: The Dr. flat out offered me a scheduled c-section today. No thanks! She did say that "little" Ella would most likely give Jackson a run for his money in the size department, and that my kids should give ME gifts on their birthdays for having them. Sounds good to me! ;) Also, I'm now at 3 cm, and she is very low. I know it could mean nothing, but it's sure hard to not get your hopes up when the Dr. says things like "See you next week, or maybe in the hospital before then!".
