Went in for my 39 week appointment yesterday. No more progress, but that was to be expected. Any more, and I'd be considered to be in active labor! I'll be seen again next Wednesday. If I haven't had Ella, they're going to want to schedule an induction for a couple of days past my due date at most, due to my history of macrosomia (that's the fancy word for a big baby!). Let's hope something happens before that even needs to be considered. My plans for this super hot weekend are going to revolve around working like a mad woman (along with Eric) to clean and knock all the nesting projects out for good, and celebrating Father's Day with one fantastic husband and dad. Maybe all that activity will spur Ella along.
After my appointment, we went over to Suzanne's for a neighborhood Father's Day craft playdate. Let's just say that Jackson had zero interest in making handprints for a card, but a ton of interest in running around and playing with his friends! Luckily, he had mom buy a Father's Day card in advance. ;) Arts and crafts just aren't his thing right now! He is starting to ask to color with his crayons more and more, but that's about it!
I think Jackson's going to be a great big brother. He is such a sweet little guy, and is so gentle. He pats my belly when asked "Where's the baby?" and "Do you love the baby?". He's very interested in infants, and loves to look at them. He's gentle with his baby dolls- gives them hugs and kisses, feeds them, refrains from carrying them by their heads... I'm sure he has no idea the scope of changes that are coming about in our home (I don't think that any of us do, actually :)), but I do believe that he'll adjust well and love his little sister. I'm in the midst of working on things for his birthday party, which we're having in late July (giving us more time to recover and adjust). I can't believe he's going to be 2 in about 2 weeks! This year especially, I wanted to make sure that he had a special event that was all about him, especially with a new sibling coming home. We're also very excited, because it turns out that Aunt Shelly and Uncle Dan may be in town for the party, all the way from Phoenix! She's coming to NC again for work in July, and just may be able to coordinate their stay with Jackson's party, which we would all love!
What else is going on? In true Eric fashion, he spilled the beans on my "push present" a bit early. The man is not capable of keeping any secrets from me. Through his work, he got me a fabulously priced laptop computer! I am SO thrilled. Despite Eric's occupation as a software developer, we have one of the most low-tech households you could find around here! No abundance of gadgets, no fancy TVs or phones, DVRs, no home phone, etc. That means we had one PC upstairs. I can now use my laptop downstairs, which will be so awesome! I love to be able to chat with Eric and friends during the day on and off, and I'm SO not a phone person. It came yesterday, and I can't wait to be able to use it.
